My love for books and reading began in childhood when my parents, both lovers of literature, would read stories to me before bed. Later, I read and re-read those stories on my own and searching for new books in the library quickly became my favorite part of school. I dreamed of one day writing stories for children myself.
I put this dream on the back burner as I journeyed through going to college, pursuing a career as an English instructor, getting married, and becoming a mom. But my dream to write for children stayed with me.
As I read bedtime stories to my daughter, I wondered. Could I really write for children, too?
Once my daugher was on her own, I decided to take my dream off of the back burner. I devoted myself to developing my skills as a children's author. This has been a joyful and fulfilling adventure.
Today, I am able to draw on my childhood experiences as well as my daughter's as I craft stories for young children. I enjoy creating relatable characters and stories that entertain as well as inspire children's confidence and personal growth as they take each important step, both the big and the small, through life.
My imprint, Paver Stone Press, reflects my mission. A love of reading and encouragement in navigating these steps are among the most important gifts children can receive during their formative years. It is these gifts I hope to leave with my readers.
